I couldn’t be happier with the results of the backsplash in my kitchen. Bruce, the professional installer, did a wonderful job. He was neat, particular, punctual, and did outstanding work.
Stacy was very helpful in the showroom. I gave her an idea of what I was looking for. She was very attentive. She pulled out numerous samples and I ended up choosing the first sample she chose!

We visited Adams Tile and Stone recently, searching for tile for a small kitchen backsplash job. The selection is huge (actually quite overwhelming), but David quickly narrowed it down to a few choices (we had our cabinet and counter colors with us) and we made a decision on a tile.

Since we selected a product they don't keep in stock, it needed to be ordered and would take a couple of weeks to arrive. (Ended up being close to a month) No worries, as we had to wait a couple of months for a new microwave to come in and this job needed to be done after that was installed.

To find out how much tile we needed, David tasked me with drawing him a diagram with some measurements of my job area. No problem for me, as a former drafting student and someone pretty good in math, I accomplished the task with ease. When I returned it to David, he committed on my great drawing, said he would figure out how much tile we needed, and would email me a quote. I paid my deposit to keep the process moving forward and left the store.

Here's why I'm a little disgruntled and writing this review. When I received the quote, it was way higher than I anticipated. First, according to my math, I needed roughly 23 sq ft. David came up with 29 sq ft. Next, the estimated shipping/handling costs for the tile was $125!! I questioned that amount and was told that they would try to get it down by grouping it with others, but makes me wonder had I not questioned it. (In the end I did only pay $41.67 for freight) My biggest complaint is that I wasn't given a heads up about the freight costs, but I accept most of the responsibility of that since I paid my deposit up front before seeing the final quote. And David placed the order prior emailing me the final quote. Other items that drove the price were $28 for a tube of color match caulk and $22 for a bag of color match grout, and I needed 1.5 ft of Schluter end cap and had to purchase eight, that's how they come!

Congrats if you are still reading. I completed this backsplash job myself as I found the $35 sq/ft quote to have it done by their guys to be excessive. It was the first backsplash tile job of this nature I've ever done (I did one with glass tile sheets before) and it came out great. David helped tremendously by answering every question I had prior to beginning the job. Special thank to him for that.

However, I ended up only using 23 sq ft of tile, when I received 33 sq ft of tile (I only paid for 29 because you can't break cases) and since it's special order, it cannot be returned!! So if you didn't read between the lines there, if you hire these guys to do a tile job for you, figure out your own sq footage, and don't be afraid to question their numbers, or you will pay way more than you need to pay!

I told them what I wanted and they made it happen. I wanted polished porcelain in black and white diagonal/diamond shape pattern with a border in the fireplace room. If your tile has to be shipped from anywhere, make sure the shipping does not go up. Dave called us and told us shipping went up and it added another good chunk to our bill if my memory serves me right. Lovely work. Had it done in a timely manner. Very professional. Paw prints are easy to clean! The tile in this room has made it everyone's favorite spot. Everyone who has even been in our home asks us where we got it done and we proudly tell them Adam's Tile in Marion.
