We had a great experience picking out tiles and colors. When we made the purchase, we were told we could always return our leftover pieces. Well that is not true. I tried to return unused samples 7/26/24. I was told I was unable to do this. They now have a 60 day return policy. Hmm interesting. They were full aware that I had been told I could return unused samples at any time. They did not honor this. I now have leftover pieces that I don't need and they still sell. I said I would not be back to this store when we have another project. Very frustrating. If a manager clearly told customers this and the store knows this to be true- it should be honored. The product is clearly able to be resold. Done with them.

This store has been in Urbandale many years. They have a big selection of tile and tile supplies. I found James to be very helpful and knowledgeable of the products they offered. There are plenty of samples and displays with ideas for your project. They also gave me a list of installers to help me find a contractor for my project. A plus was the tile i picked was in stock and available immediately.

Store hours on google say open until 7pm. Drove 30 miles to the store to pickup tile and they are closed. Super cool, now I’ll not purchase anything here for the new home.

Update: I stopped in this morning because I couldn’t find the tile we wanted anywhere else. The store manager took care of me quickly. He was extremely accommodating to us and we got our needs handled. We are very happy to have bumped into him.

I wish I could choose no stars. I ordered some very large tiles to replace tile in a patio table that had been broken. These tiles were $70 each and I ordered five of them. I was told when I ordered them that they would also cut them. I went to pick them up and then was told that they could not cut them. When I said I wanted my money back, they coerced me into taking the tile and a hand cutter to cut these giant 2X3' tiles. Tried to get a few pro tile layers to cut them and was told that no saw could cut that tile and the hand cutter would be next to impossible. I contacted the store and was ignored. They want your business, take your money but don't want to see you taken care of. Overpriced tile in my opinion. Go elsewhere!

Great selection with helpful sales people. Store is always clean. We were able to take oodles of samples home free of charge. Very generous return policy. Six months to return unused boxes of tile. Only complaint is that there is no easy way to collect a couple of samples. You're generally stuck carrying heavy tiles around the store until you get back to the checkout area.

If no stars were an option that is what I would give this business. I rarely write reviews because I don’t like being negative but this business truly deserves a bad review. First, I was helped last spring after a VERY long wait by someone who loaded up our order with more tile and supplies than we needed. I really trusted this sales person was doing their job... Then I called a few months later after our project was finished in the fall to ask about returning the unnecessary items and was told I had 12 months. After attempting to return the extra items I was informed there is a six month policy and I had missed it. At no time while spending thousands of dollars on tile was this explained to me and they definitely added hundreds in unnecessary footage and supplies. How do you help your bottom line at the Tile Shop? Is it by taking advantage of someone expecting your help and expertise? Or is it by failing to give a consistent return policy?

Avoid this business and just go to Lowe’s or another big box store. The service will likely be the same, or better and less expensive.

So far, they have been great! Mike took all the time we needed with us to answer our questions & show us samples then left us on our own to make any decisions. Pricing was excellent, better than the 2 big box stores we visited and most of our tile was in stock. The little amount we ordered only took 1 day to arrive.
I hope they are as great if we have excess to return. Right now: A+ !
