Tried to charge $4000 to replace water heater that needed the pilot light relite for my aged Parents. (85 and 92 respectively.)

Admittedly it's an old water heater but nothing was wrong with it. Hunter Johns came out to "fix" it and told my folks it could not be fixed and the price is $4000 to replace it.

I did not believe him so I looked up prices issues that could cause this while he was on the phone.

I quickly went up the list of possible problems from replacing the
thermocouple $14
Pilot Assembly $45
to Replacing the whole
Gas burner. $99

He told me he'd have to call his boss.
He kept telling me no warranty on the work like that was a magic bullet.

I asked him to test some things hoping he could diagnose the problem. He went to my first guess as the problem. (Bad thermocouple) and told me that'll be $400.
I asked him to run a test for me. RELIGHT the pilot and see if it stays lit.

He did and it stayed lit. Charged me $200 for something I could have done if I were not at work.

I called Master Plumbing to do a required annual inspection of our residential Bio-Microbics septic system. They dispatched Makayla, a very knowledgeable and efficient technician. Makayla inspected the system and noted that a special tank treatment and pumping was required. She took care of both of those requirements and then returned for a final inspection which included taking the required sample for testing. Overall, the Master Plumbing service was outstanding. I especially appreciated Makayla’s excellent customer service, her tutorial on the system and her detailed explanation of the inspection process.

Jon Crockett came out from Master Plumber. He was on time, professional, friendly, efficient. He kept the mess minimal and cleaned up afterward. Makayla was very thoughtful and courteous. This is our first new home, and the task of installing a water softener into the space designated by the engineers and architects is a bit daunting due to the fact that the natural gas fitters plumbed their gas line 4' too low and 9" into the other trades area, not cool. Makayla had looked the job over two weeks ago and calculated what parts she would need to complete the job.
Very professional, neat, clean, and an efficient installation.
The water softener that was installed 40 years ago in the home that we are leaving behind in Lewiston Idaho was completely analog, so I had plenty of operational and maintenance questions that I needed answered. ? She walked me through all of my questions with thorough and clear answers.

Jeff at Master Plumbing was able to fix our leak the same day we called! He was in and out efficiently and was very kind. Hopefully we won’t ever need them again, but if we do we’ll definitely call for their services again!
