Our company was a sub contractor for this company. The owner, Adam, owed us 14,258.00. To date he has not paid this amount in full. He wrote checks to us that bounced and we did the work for him, in good faith, in October. Multiple emails, texts, phone calls not to mention my time in trying to collect has been a nightmare. Adam has been completely unprofessional in his handling of paying us. In addition, he had already been paid by the homeowners he was working for so he had the money to pay us but chose not to. We will not be working with him again in the future. I would not recommend him to anyone. If I could give a minus star rating, it would be minus 5.

Adam and his crew gave us a fantastic pergola for our outdoor living space. This pergola, built in 2022, is great looking and sturdy, withstanding the heavy, strong winds experienced in the Summer of 2023. It’s been a great addition to the house, allowing us patio time in what can sometimes be too warm conditions with the addition of a wet weather rated fan, installed by a contractor recommended by the company. We contacted 3 deck/pergola companies and Adam was the only one who responded. It took only 3 days for installation and we were enjoying the patio by the weekend. It’s added so much to our home!

Amazing deck company.. I got 4-5 bids and did not like any of them until, I found Adam and Dynamic Decksteriors , he not only helped me redesign our deck , changing how the stairs came down and gave us another 100sq feet of deck. but gave me the most important thing..Honesty and Integrity.. I knew after meeting with them , that they were going to do my deck..
Adam, Rod, and Tyler were very good and always very professional about the work.. the quality is off the charts,, job site was cleaned up every night before they left.
Just cant say enough good about them. Very Very happy...
If you are doing a deck, look no where else. Thanks guys..

Adam and his crews do amazing work. The attention to detail, craftsmanship, and precision is above anything I’ve ever seen and you can really see the pride in their work on display. It took a while to get started (9+ months); but once the build did get started, the crew was very nice, polite, and continued to work during December’s brutal cold sub freezing temps. The end product is a work of art, and even includes a pergola! I highly recommend Dynamic Decksteriors, and if you can splurge, Fortress Steel decking - it will last forever and is 100% maintenance free. Plus, like other reviews, the bid came in cheaper than competitors.

Response to Dynamic Decksterior's response: I do not want something for free. As I've stated on multiple occasions, I want the screen system refunded. I've offered to remove the screen system in exchange for a refund. Today is March 17th; the temperature is 60 degrees. 3 of 6 screens no longer work. I've emailed pictures to the screen manufacturer; they informed us that you incorrectly installed the screens. We are flying them up in April to fix the screens, at which time, we will continue our civil case against you.

For the reader, I have multiple emails to Adam with no response. We can provide them upon request and will submit court. Civil action is still avoidable if Adam wishes.

Original Review:
I highly discourage anyone from using Dynamic Decksteriors. They play games, like most contractors, where they take your money up front, then avoid completing the project and not honoring repairs. Once they have your money, they use it to start the next project. This company requires most money up front for "ordering" materials. We signed with them even against our better judgment. We contracted them for a $50k+ project, including a $20k retractable screen system.

They started work in the fall of 2015. Work progressed through the winter and into the spring. Once we paid 90% of the contract fees, Dynamic Decksteriors stopped showing up for work, even though almost half of the work still remained. My wife and I had to repeatedly call Adam Griest, the owner, asking when he would finish the job. Every week was a different excuse and promised to send crews to our house, "as soon as they were finished on other jobs." We would ask why his crews were working on other jobs, when we've almost paid off our contract. He never could answer that question.

After a year and a half, winter of 2017, the project is "considered" done, but they will not finish with repairs. I have attached several pictures of their poor quality of work, which they will not repair. The screen system does not work. We've asked for a refund on the screen system, but Adam Griest will not refund the money nor make repairs and is incapable of making repairs. He blames the manufacturer for the problems. I've contacted the manufacturer and am making repairs at my own expense. We are pursuing legal action, but like most contractors of this type, Adam plans to file for bankruptcy to avoid paying. He'll just open up another business with a new name. This is a game that most contractors play. If he ends up filing for bankruptcy, or not refunding the money for the screen system, we plan to file a criminal complaint against Adam with Johnson County's Consumer Protection Agency. That won't help get our money back, but we feel obligated to protect other consumers from these types of contractors. I wouldn't give this company any money, because when he files for bankruptcy, you'll never see a dime of it.

Other examples of poor craftsmanship are the stone veneers. We have stones that frequently fall off. We've asked Adam to repair them, but he never responds. Another example shows where his electrician ran a wire in an exterior wall. We found out that the electrician smashed all the installation into a ball, when running the wire, causing cold air to run down the wall in through the electrical box. The cold air ran into our kitchen, causing humidity to build up on the interior wall, resulting in water damage. I had to reinsulate the wall and rewire the electrical box at my own expense. We did not contact Dynamic Decksteriors on this, because we knew they wouldn't respond, and we needed to make quick repairs to avoid further water damage. We also never received a passing inspection from the City of Olathe. We asked several times for Dynamic Decksteriors to provide proof that we passed inspection. No response.

We'd like to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, for what is obvious now, they are not members. Go figure. In short, save yourself a lot of energy, and protect your money. Pick another contractor.
