We are beyond happy with our pool from Derby City Pools. From the initial consult to completion, everyone was professional and their knowledge showed they’re at the top of their industry. They didn’t just talk the talk, they walked it. They knew exactly what to do when challenges arose. They were meticulous to detail and the project manager is a perfectionist! The crew was amazing, and we loved coming home every day to see the progress they had made. They gave us our dream pool oasis, and it was better than what we could have imagined. I researched for months and came across a pool company called Derby City Pools run by Alex and Rick Fransen. I have met other families who have had pools put in by this company and these families have nothing but good things to say about them. I’ve heard nightmare stories from other companies but not this one.

Work started on my pool May 2nd 2022 it was completed on 15 June 2022, we took a week delay due to no concrete being available.

About the process, Alex came over to my house for initial meet on July 20, 2021. There were lots and lots of design emails back and forth. Alex submitted to me an initial design, I liked what I saw, so I put money down. The real design process started after that. He submitted to me a VR design of my backyard showing my pool / backyard in day and night. The VR to final project is almost identical.

Alex and his team are super respectful, nice, trustworthy, and most importantly, they have incredible attention to detail. Every concern that I had through the process, they were already aware of and either fixing it or making it look good. The team that he uses to dig your pool are extremely knowledgeable and experienced pool builders.

Alex and his team put the pool in, did a paver patio with two different retaining walls and a ton of landscape lights.

I used Derby City Pools’ electrician, Nigel Ottersbach. I had previously removed and rebuilt a deck last summer (2021). Nigel came over to my house this January to run all the electrical wiring for the deck speakers, ethernet cables, lighting wires, and pool equipment electrical. I will use Nigel for everything when it comes time for anything electrical. He was extremely professional, detail oriented. When he drilled through the beams of the deck, he measured each hole precisely so all his wires ran in a straight line and organized. The electrical inspector loved this, said it made his job much easier.

If you’ve read this far, stop your research and call Alex or Rick to get a pool put in your backyard. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT! MY kids average 4 hours a day in it and our family is making tons of memories in our dream backyard…ALL THANKS TO ALEX, RICK, AND THE DERBY CITY TEAM!

I highly recommend Derby City Pools. They put a beautiful pool in for us in 2023. Rick and Alex are amazing to work with. They communicated every step and did everything they said they would. They answered every question we had and helped us make a dream come true! From the start of the project, they were there every day until our pool was completed. Still, a year later, they are so responsive whenever we have a question. So glad we found them!

We really enjoyed our experience with these guys, Alex and Rick were very responsive and catered to our requests. When we started this project in early March, I didn't think we'd be swimming this year, but we were and had a couple of months to enjoy it. The crew was amazing, I wish I could remember all of their names, but they kept us up to date with every step, and when we needed to change/add/subtract parts of our project, they were right there to exceed our needs. When perusing their website the pictures of their past projects were what had us reaching out. Our job was not a large or a super intricate one, but we were treated like if it was the most important one.

We chose Derby City, because of their philosophy to work a pool until it’s completed. We had heard horror stories about months of construction and not being able to get things completed.

They estimated it would take 5-6 weeks, and they delivered. We were able to swim in 3 weeks with the project completely finished in 6. Someone was there to work every day - with close oversight from Alex and frequent communication from Rick. Their team was top-notch!

We love our pool, and we’d recommend Derby City for yours!

I can’t say enough good things about Derby City and the crew that made our dreams come true! They have every quality you want in a contractor (ALL OF THEM)!! Professional, courteous, knowledgeable, HARD WORKING, I could go on and on. If your reading this I’m assuming your in the market for a pool or hard scape of some kind, please let this be your sign to look no further. As a small business owner my self i truly was impressed with the speed and quality of this group. I promise you will not get better results anywhere in this city. I’ve had two friends and my wife had a co-worker all put pools in before Alex started on our project and they where absolute horror stories that I couldn’t even begin to explain! But I’d be happy to if you want(Alex has my phone number). Save yourself any worry and call Derby City. That actually has a nice ring to it I’ll probably bill Alex for it. We had our pool installed by Derby City Pools, and couldn't be more happy with the results. From the beginning, Alex and Rick were great to work with. I truly appreciated their patience with us as we explored options with landscaping, hardscaping, pool shape, and timing.

Once work started, the crew that showed up was beyond professional and courteous. Ben, Kevin, and Nigel were consistent in when they started work each day, communicated extremely well throughout the process, and even took great care in ensuring the job site was cleaned up before they left each day. The entire crew was very friendly and up to answer any and all of our questions each day. They all seemed to enjoy the work they were doing, and it was evident in their positive attitude and all around good nature. It was refreshing to see an outfit that took such care and pride in the work they did each and every day.

During the installation, and even long after, we had neighbors approach us unsolicited, commenting on how well-run our pool installation team was. The great care Derby City Pools took each day, is made evident in the quality of their craftsmanship.

Even long after the installation, Rick is extremely responsive to my questions. We are extremely satisfied with the process and most importantly the end result. Truly an operation staffed by an extremely knowledgeable and class act crew!
