Fernando and his team did an exceptional job transforming my condo kitchen. Fernando designed a kitchen that gave me everything I wanted (more counter space, more storage space, more light) while still working within the limits of walls and pipes that could not be moved. He was knowledgable, courteous and accommodating. The team came everyday, worked efficiently, cleaned up after themselves and even played with my dog! I highly recommend Chesapeake Kitchen Design.

Fernando and his team did an excellent job throughout the design and build process to renovate two bathrooms and one kitchen in a 1935 house.. At our very first encounter he provided very sound advice as he outlined for us what he had to offer, and how he worked within the clients and their budget to reach their desired outcome. He offers a range of quality products, and allows the clients great flexibility in choosing fixtures, appliances, tiles and paint. Execution is always hard when your kitchen and baths are torn up. His crews were quick but thorough, and he was very helpful in our various relocations. He has very good sub-contractors who really know their stuff - plumbers, tile, floor refinishing, etc. The final product is a modern kitchen, redesigned to our specifications that is far more functional than the 1930s era design it replaced. Our bathrooms are equally well done. Three years later, there are no flaws, no "buyer's remorse" - but Fernando has always been available to answer the "how do I" questions that seemingly arise post-facto. I’ve used Chesapeake for numerous projects spanning over 11 years. Fernando’s team has the same guys he’s had for over a decade, which shows what an honest, reliable company he runs. They are polite, professional, exceeding helpful, and do excellent work. Fernando has superb design ideas and a full panoply of options in his showroom. When projects lapse, it’s often out of his control. He installed a picture window for us that came broken - twice - which delayed the job, but Fernando managed the delay beautifully. For my first kitchen renovation with him (I’ve done two, plus multiple bathrooms, enclosing a porch, and renovating two basements), I received multiple bids and his was very reasonable. He is a fair and honest man. The negative reviews on here do not reflect my longstanding experience. Even in between jobs, he has stepped in to help me with issues around the house. He is largely hands off while the work gets done, so if you need constant check ins, it’s something you must initiate. But for me, it’s unnecessary. I know Fernando will get everything done.

If you are looking for a contractor or a company to renovate your kitchen, look no further: “CHESAPEAKE KITCHEN DESIGN” is your destination. We renovated our kitchen with this company, and we are very pleased with the results. The entire process was a pleasant experience. Fernando Alban, the president and designer, was very patient and helpful: he listened, explained all the steps, and offered his expertise and suggestions. He worked closely with us to make sure that the final design was exactly what we wanted. He provided us with detailed calculations of costs and options. The craftsmen who did the installation had many different skills, and the quality of their work was superb. They were courteous, punctual, friendly and considerate. The preparation work was impressive: the work area was sealed off, the floors were protected with hard cover, and there was minimal dust in the other rooms. They helped us to set up a small kitchenette in the living room. They left the work area very clean after each day’s work. The entire process took two months, which included Christmas and New Year holidays (it was our choice to renovate in that period). To sum up, we highly recommend “CHESAPEAKE KITCHEN DESIGN” to everybody.

This summer Chesapeake Kitchen gave me a new kitchen/dining room by removing the wall between our tiny galley kitchen and our dining room, replacing cabinets, range, counter, backsplash, lighting, and flooring. We worked mainly with Fernando, the owner, and Michele, the kitchen designer. We were promised the work would be completed in 6-8 weeks, and had the tile company not shipped tiles to the wrong state, it would have been done by the end of the 8th week. As it was, the tile company's carelessness delayed it a few days. There were no other surprises. Although the original estimate, for example, contained several approximate amounts that depended on our choice of tile and counter material, they reflected an understanding of our budgetary limitations. As a result, the final cost of the entire kitchen differed from the original estimate by only $63. Throughout the process, Chesapeake Kitchen was respectful of our decisions and never tried to pressure us toward more expensive options or further work. We felt they were committed to doing a good job, and they were always responsive when we asked them to double-check an installation or make minor changes. The end result is a very attractive and functional kitchen that I thoroughly enjoy using.

Project: substantial renovation to a historic DC row house, including the addition of a master bathroom and laundry room along with multiple walls moved.

Chesapeake deserves all 5 stars for our project. The company was TIMELY, PROFESSIONAL, and ON BUDGET. I am a very picky person, and I was floored to consistently experience top craftsmanship applied to our home. Fernando was very helpful with the design, but never pushy. Chesapeake went above and beyond to seal off the non-construction areas to contain the dust and also covered all of our floors for added protection. They knew that my wife suffered from asthma and took action throughout the project to make sure that she was ok. You can tell that Fernando (the owner) has many years in the business and never cuts corners. He was also always reachable.

If you want a top-quality, honest renovation in DC (and around it), I would definitely recommend Chesapeake Kitchen.
