I worked with Tom Hall at Charles P. Johnson & Associates. I had a great experience. Tom worked diligently to help guide me through the lengthy and complicated waterfront approval process.

Importantly, Tom helped drive the plan to County approval after another individual (currently at a different firm) had done a very poor job and dragged out the process.

By contrast, Tom was always on the ball, was very accessible, and developed a comprehensive and detailed plan which was approved. Tom always did what he said he would do, and followed through with solid communication throughout the process. I would highly recommend working with Tom Hall!

Bottom Line: Do not work with CPJ. I had to report them to the Maryland Attorney General’s office and the Maryland Bar Assn due to poor service and questionable behavior.

Words cannot express the level of frustration, anxiety and disappointment with the interactions with the CPJ Annapolis office. Bill Bower was highly recommended by my Landscape Architect for a waterfront full yard renovation. After an impressive interview, it all went downhill. Calls and emails to him went unresponded-to for weeks. Just before submission, our Anne Arundel Standard Grading Plan had to be re-done due to a misunderstanding about lot coverage in the buffer. Once submitted, there was no follow up whatsoever with me or the county; when I eventually contacted the county directly (because Bill and his staff were non-responsive), it turned out the permit had been approved weeks before and they never told me. That second delay cost me the joys of spring on my new patio. Finally, and most egregiously, they over charged for their embarrassing work. Despite an agreed upon fee, CPJ had the audacity to bill me nearly twice the price of the contract. Much of that additional fee was to correct the mistakes they made or for a second consultation for another project all together (home remodel). Instead of standing by our agreement, CPJ has repeatedly insisted on getting paid for its poor work above and beyond our contracted price.

We have been impressed with their high level of professionalism, as well as their broad scope of work in engineering both residential and commercial land development projects - the final results of their expertise are quite remarkable.
