Consumer, please beware as Mr Rooter of Traverse City has a 1 out of 5 rating with the Better Business Bureau. Unfortunately, I only read Mr Rooter’s national website promises before calling them.
This past February, I flew home from Florida to find my master toilet with a minor leak. I was only home for a few days and Mr. Rooter was the only company who could come within the few days I was home.
Chad, their repairman, came and surveyed the situation. He stated the repair would cost over $375 and I was shocked and upset and never once did Chad suggest a new toilet would be a better value! In addition to replacing almost every internal part, Chad also had to return to Fergeson’s to get a new handle—one that is floppy and not sturdy like the original.
Chad left, I turned off the water and went back to Florida for several months. A few days after I returned, I flushed the toilet and it starting making a ridiculously loud sound as the bowl filled.
I immediately sent Mr Rooter videos of the toilet filling and asked that Chad come out to check his repair. At this point, I still had every confidence that Mr Rooter would make the repair right.
Upon arriving, Chad said he had seen the video and asked what I wanted to be done. I said I wanted a new toilet. We agreed that I would be responsible for purchasing the toilet and paying the difference between the repair price of $328 and a new install. He said he would have to clear it with the boss and to call when I had the toilet.
So at 77 years old, I purchased a new Koehler toilet and carted it home for the install. Sadly, I then called Mr Rooter to set up an install appointment only to hear that “I should find another plumber.”
I was in disbelief and do not like to be taken advantage of. I would not recommend Mr Rooter’s toilet repair service to anyone.

Our assigned handyman Nate quickly understood the task he was given shortly after arrival, and got right to work on our water backup issue. He checked all the surrounding drainage pipes to assure us there was no resulting damage from the nasty clog that had slowed down and stopped up two toilets and a shower stall, to the point that water had flooded our basement unexpectedly. His overall service was efficiently quick enough so that my disabled mother was able to have her therapeutic bath with her therapist on time and without any delay. I am very thankful that Mr. Rooter could come in and help us out on such short notice. Thank you!

Caleb showed up and walked me through everything he was going to do. He was even cheaper than I had expected. He was very knowledgeable and I felt he was very honest with me. I would definitely use him again if needed.

Had a tech come over to map out my sewer drains. Job only took 15-20 minutes and Caleb was very friendly and helpful. It would have been nice if I didn’t have to pay the service call and two hour minimum, but I knew going into it what it would cost and how long it would take. I would recommend service to others.

Chad Jones, service technician at Mr. Rooter, did an outstanding job. Our handyman was installing vinyl flooring over our cement floor in our basement hallway--but we have a drain that backs up sometimes. Chad solved the problem by capping the drain and installing a small condensate pump attached to the furnace (having the water condensation run through the soft-water line). Brilliant solution! Chad is not only an expert at plumbing but also genuinely friendly and kind. He answered several questions my wife and I had about various plumbing issues at our house. He was amazing. I will always contact him and Mr. Rooter when I have plumbing needs. 4 April 2024

Overall

Caleb was very knoweldgeable and courteous. Mr. Rooters' drain camera scope enables the technician to definitively pinpoint the clog and show the owner what's going on. After Caleb removed the first clog he ran the camera back through the whole 100 feet to our septic tank and found grease build up in the end of the pipe, so he ran the snake back through to clean that up to prevent another emergency. Very satifisfied with the service!

They answered the phone, and had someone out the next day to look at it, and went over everything and answered my questions. Tough crawl, but they got it done, and cleaned up better than I had left it. I did call a few local plumber's first. It's almost been 2 weeks and no one else has even returned my call. They probably saw the Mr. Rooter truck there, and knew I was in good hands...
