James, Jared, and team were amazing!! We recently bought a house and we were very surprised when we found tons of wood rot that didn’t show up in inspections. We were referred to 221 construction by a friend. James and his team were quick to assess the situation, James kept in constant communication, and he overall was a pleasure to work with. We look forward to keeping in contact with James and using his expertise for future projects. We’re very happy with the teams craftsmanship and are elated with our brand new wood-rot free and painted house!!

Initially very impressed with 221 construction but mid way thru our fireplace remodel we started having some quality control issues. Once the project manager stopped coming with the crew every day sadly work quality suffered.

My husband and I were very nervous about hiring a contractor to help us fix a failed DIY after hearing so many horror stories from friends, family and associates about working contractors. We did do a little hunting to find the right contractor for us and overall we are glad we went with 221.

Negatives: Once the project manager let the crew come without him… quality dipped a tad. Several spots are just not right and they left some damage. They left sharp tools inside our new cabinets which left scratches on the shelves. They got stain inside of the cabinets as well that won’t clean off. The dry wall is not smooth and seamless where the shelving meets the wall. I can see every cut and seam where they put the stone stuff on the bottom of the fireplace… and there’s a noticeable gap on the bottom where plywood is sticking out. Our carpet was also stained with pink stuff. I can see where it was cleaned up but unfortunately it’s still stained pink. These are small things but I am a very particular person.

Positives: Don and his crew are very professional and courteous. We felt the project was completed in an appropriate amount of time. The design crew put together a fireplace design with just about everything we wanted for our budget (we didn’t get real stone but Cindy found an alternative substitute). The crew notified us before coming each time. Anytime we have called with a general question we get prompt reply. Brian was very nice and provided updates while we were out of town.

See photos below. Overall we are happy with the update but there’s a little room for improvement.

UPDATE: Don had reached out to us after my review was updated from a 5 star to a 4 star. I was told that the office staff were angry about my review even tho I said they did a good job and my complaint was with the constructions crews dip in quality.

We were told to complete a “punch list”.

We did and NEVER heard back from 221 again.

I would recommend that you DO NOT pay your remaining balance until the punch list is complete and you are indeed satisfied with the final project as it is.

We did not hire 221 back for the remaining remodel projects of our house.

Our rating went from a 4 star down to a 2 because our punch list was never completed.

I shared a review a week ago and today a young man called Glenn called me 221 construction. He was very kind and very nice and ask if he could come over and take a look at our granite he explained to me why it looked the way it did and I understood what he told me, I wish I had said something earlier instead of waiting two years that was my mistake. I would recommend this construction company to anybody. I never thought I would get a call and they would come and look at it so thank you very much Glenn for your concern.

Jake and Team did an awesome job assisting us with some cement work as we installed several faux trees at our place of business! Love the finished look! Jake was responsive and fit us into a busy schedule and was sure to follow up when the work was completed.

Can’t say enough how impressed I am with 221 Construction. Top Quality materials and craftsmanship! They were honest, hard working, extremely skilled, work was beautiful. They actually showed up when they said they would. They cleaned up after themselves each day. The crew themselves were kind, clean, well mannered and went above and beyond. I also feel that it was less stressful on our end because of how well they worked and their integrity. Very smooth process for us. There is no doubt in my mind they will be who I will call for anything else.
