I broke my glass on the front storm door while cutting grass. Knew I should have stayed inside. Anyway I took the frame off and called Nichols glass as my wife used them before to cut down some table tops. The folks at Nichols told me to bring the frame in and they would repair. They had a two to three week backlog. In spite of that it was repaired in about one week. Very nice people and though my job was small they were happy to help me. Met a couple of employees during my visit and found them to be friendly and helpful. This usually is the sign of a well run business. I would certainly recommend Nichols glass to anyone.

In all the moving madness, the best experience I had was with Nichols Glass! They made sure to repair the glass in a timely manner to satisfy the buyer of my home. I am very appreciative of their kindness and professionalism.

Stay away, sub par work, terrible customer service. Long drawn out service with mistakes, and the company refusing to correct the mistakes.

Around the 16th of October Nichols Glass came to my home and measured for a shower door install. At the time of the measurement I was told it would take about 10 days. This was important as we had plans for guests for Thanksgiving. About a month later they returned with the glass that was cut incorrectly. They told me they would have to reorder the glass from their manufacturer. I asked if it was possible to still get the door in by Thanksgiving and the office personnel suggested I contact Binswanger Glass because they manufactured their glass locally. I called Binswanger and they told me that they got their glass from the same place Nichols did and suggested that I have Nichols finish the process. I contacted Nichols and told them to proceed and asked if they could request a rush on the order from the manufacturer which they said they would ask. Needless to say, they did not get the door installed for Thanksgiving. A month later they got the door in and scheduled an install while we were out of town for Christmas. I had a family member meet them at the house and let them in. I told the office personnel of the arrangement and asked that they leave an invoice as I wanted to see the door before I paid. I returned home December 26th to find the door installed out of line with the second piece of glass they installed which left approximately a ½ inch gap that would allow water to spray out onto the floor. (see picture 1)
I called Nichols Glass on December 27th and informed them of situation. The office asked me to send them pictures and I did. They scheduled an installer to come and correct the problem on December 28th. The installer moved the door to align with the stationary piece of glass they installed but it took him two times to get it right. After his first attempt, I went to my garage and got a level so he could use the straight edge to align the two pieces properly. On his second attempt he finally got the door aligned with the other glass. Unfortunately, it left a pair of visible holes in the tile at each place there was a screw. (see pictures 2 and 3)
I took pictures and sent them to Nichols Glass stating that this is what we ended with and that the holes in the tile were unacceptable. The office staff at Nichols Glass became rude and said they would just come out and take the door out and for me to call another glass company. They then said that they would not discount or give the shower door to me for free. (I had never asked for either) I just wanted the door to be right and the shower to be usable as I had guests in town for the week between Christmas and New Year. I said they could come get the door but they would need to repair the tile they had damaged and they refused. They then began to accuse me of wanting something for nothing and threatened to place a “construction lien” on my home if I didn’t pay.
Not once did a member of management or the owner inspect the work, speak to me about the problem, or even ask what my concerns were. They never asked what I thought would make the situation right, so there is no way for them to even know what I wanted. I never asked for a discount or refused to pay. Just like so many home owners, I just wanted the job done correctly. And like so many unscrupulous contractors, they think they can bully and threaten to get away with sub-standard work. This began as something that was supposed to take 10 days and ended up taking two months and 10 days and now has to be removed, repaired and started all over with a legitimate glass company.
Save yourself the headache and stay far away from Nichols Glass.

I was really impressed with these guys. My glass shower door was out of alignment, and they came out the same day I called and fixed it within 25 minutes. Billed me for just a service call and it was a very reasonable price. Glad to know they exist and will use them in the future for Windows and other glass related items.
