Disappointing Service and Deceptive Charges

We recently contacted this company to service our generator, hoping to find a reliable maintenance provider. They charged us $175 for an initial inspection, with $50 of that supposedly going toward future maintenance work. However, after the inspection, they sent us an itemized proposal of over $6,000 for “necessary upgrades” and claimed that our electrical installation was not up to code. This was shocking, as our generator had been installed just three years ago.

We decided to get a second opinion and had three other licensed professionals assess our setup. Each one confirmed that there were no issues with the installation, and everything was up to code. It became clear that this company was attempting to overcharge us for unnecessary work. However, we do agree with them that the propane tank needs to be moved further away from the exhaust.

To make matters worse, they cashed our $175 check before even scheduling the inspection, and when we requested a refund due to the unfounded charges, they refused to return any portion of the money.

We feel completely ripped off and would not recommend this company to anyone looking for honest and professional service. Be cautious if you decide to work with them.

My husband and I own a Generac for our home due to the fact that my husband is an incomplete quadriplegic..We are repeat customers for Beacon and always get prompt,wonderful service..LJ has provided us wonderful prompt customer service in making sure our “dinosaur”(it’s about 18 yrs old) Generac is running efficiently.. I asked Lowe’s for a generator estimate and they sent beacon out , they gave me an estimate for 13,800 but would not itemize it . The generator cost 5400 at best and they were charging me for a transfer switch ( 1250 ) that came with the generator kit . Please be careful they are a rip off . I will never do business with them . They even blamed generic for not itemizing the estimate and told me to call them . Well I did and they said it should definitely be itemized. Shows how much they lied .
That’s not true I contacted Lowe’s and they never heard of such a thing and said it’s sad that this is not there standards . Please stop lying you either have an itemized bill or you don’t stop blaming other people ! You can post it if it’s legit . And I did contact your office and they won’t give it to me either !

Beacon Power are professional and very knowledgeable with there's product. I Needed a 48Kw Generator and they have it right away. No need to wait at all. The only issue was they doesn't delivery to New Orleans. But we got right away. Ms. Rebecca and Mr. Ron was very accomodating, They even open on saturday for us. I sure will recommend Beacon Power to everyone's that need a generators. Thank you again Ms. Rebecca and Mr. Ron.

I am a repeat customer of Beacon Electric. I own a residential 22kilowatt system and 15 kilowatt system. The 22Kilowatt system supports my primary residence and it has performed flawlessly and service by Beacon has been punctual. Additionally, while out of town a neighbor notified me that my generator was running even though the neighborhood did not lose power. Even though it was after normal working hours, Beacon immediately arrived at my residence to troubleshoot the system. The problem was with the power company and not the generator but it was a great relief to have such responsive service.
Moreover, Beacon Electric upgraded an older 15kilowatt generator on a secondary residence and it has continued to run without issues.
Why should anyone own a residential generator? Peace of mind, security, preserving of refrigerated an frozen foods but especially comfort. Our generators have seen us through multiple power losses from storms and accidents. Each time we were able to stay in our residence with our security systems active and remain comfortable. (In south Mississippi during the summer months that is a really big deal.)
I highly recommend the GENERAC Products and especially Beacon Electric as your installation and service provider.
