I found this company through a recommendation on Find it Duke on Duke Energy's website. I received proposals from three different companies on this site. Matt Phillips of Carolina Weatherization inspected my 3rd floor attic (original insulation in 1993 by the builder). I had an R19 level, below the current state code of R38 and the DOE recommended R49. He recommended bringing the insulation to R49, installed a rigid foam board barrier around the storage and HVAC areas to keep the alkways free of insulation, sealed the HVAC connections with mastic, sealed all plumbing holes, exhaust fans, wall plates and light fixtures to prevent air exchange from the attic to these areas, and installed foam core insulation over the attic wall insulation in areas which spanned cathedral ceilings from the living space. Finally, a zippered attic stair cover (tent) was installed over the pull down stairs, replacing a disintegrating R10 attic stair tent. The crew was hard-working, courteous, professional, and took great care to cover all carpeted areas with floor protectors, and cleaned up after the project was done. I also appreciated Matt's honesty in telling me some ideas I had for my 2nd story walk in attic area were not necessary.
As with all things, you can find cheaper, but true effective weatherization requires more than just blown-in insulation, and this company of professionals clearly are good at what they do. I highly recommend them.

Carolina Weatherization did a great job. They arrived when they said they would and completed the work in a timely manner. All the technicians were friendly and courteous. Given the messy nature of the work (bags of loose insulation) they put down drop cloths and wore shoe covers. They cleaned up nicely when finished and left with barely a trace. Not being an expert in insulation, the work they did appeared very complete. I can already tell a difference in the comfort and am looking forward to seeing my next energy bill. I would definitely recommend them for insulation.

Matt Phillips and his team did an amazing job on several projects we had. They encapsulated our crawlspace, installed a dehumidifier (provided wireless humidity monitor), installed a bath fan, replaced an old can light, and added insulation to our attic and bonus room knee walls. Their workmanship is top notch and their pricing was competitive. The team was professional and detailed oriented.

Looking for insulation for the attic and insulation over the Garage area. Also wanted the HVAC seal. Matt came out and done a complete inspection of the attic and crawl space and the HVAC System. Took before and after pictures of the attic.Very professional and quality service, took the time to answer all questions the wife and I had. Matt recommend to bring attic insulation from R30 to R49 over the heated/cooled area and R49 over the Garage area. The Garage had no insulation and in the summer the heat was unbearable. Joey and Curtis did and excellent job of insulated the attic area and sealing the HVAC duct work returns and supplies lines. The two were very professional and friendly and every day clean up there mess at the end of the day. Were the insulation was falling of the walls in the recess ceiling areas they added foam board and seal. Also seal top plates and all electrical wiring penetration in the attic. Can all ready tell the difference in living area and garage. Excellent job well done. If anyone in need of insulation I would highly recommend Carolina Weatherization Pricing was reasonable. Had more quotes from other contractors, but Matt is the only one that did a complete inspection of area of concerns. Thanks
