Overall

The salesman was wonderful. He went about and beyond to help match up our shutter order to our existing medal roof.
We were disappointed that it took 6 months to get our shutters but that's part for the course for the south.
Our biggest complaint is that when our Bahama shutters were installed (by wonderful installers) we were informed, THAT DAY, that our Lexan accordion shutters had been incorrectly ordered and would have to be reorder! Meaning we had to wait even longer.
When they were finally delivered, they were DUMPED in the middle of our driveway without as much as a knock on the door. To say we were PISSED would be an understatement! We have security cameras, and what we saw was a truck back in, slide the panels off, and drive away.

So the sales team is good. The installers are great, very informative, but the office manager seems to leave MUCH to be desired.

When you spend thousands of dollars $$ the least you should be able to expect is, updates and a damn knock on the door!

I researched every hurricane shutter company for 50 miles and American Hurricane Shutters won my business for several reasons (professionalism, knowledge, material, designs, options, pricing and installation). Not only are they decorative, but functional and easy to install. So many neighbors stopped by to ask me who did them, that I had to ask for their business card to hand out. I thought it would be better if the screws were affixed to the shutter so the cross bar could just hinge onto the screw and then be tightened. However, you wouldn't be able to replace the screw if it got stripped. They did give me extra screws in case I lost or stripped the heads of any. Thank you Mike Burns, Salesman, Matthew Burns, Office Manager, Casey and Shane, Installers for a great product and best service ever.

We absolutley love our new Bahama hurricane shutters! Not only do we feel confident and prepared for a storm, but they look beautiful and added to the esthetics of our home. As a bonus it seems our bedrooms are cooler than priorto installation. AHS did a great job - highly recommend!

I left an extremely positive review after Mike and team installed hurricane shutters on our coastal home. However, when other work was performed on our home a few years later, the builder had to remove a couple of the shutters. They could not get them reinstalled correctly and we requested help from AHS. This request was met with reluctance at best but eventually AHS agreed to help. However, AHS failed to show for five different promised appointments. When pushed on these continued broken appointments, AHS and Mike in particular became belligerent, rude, dismissive, placing blame for having work done without his knowledge and consent. It’s an interesting message for AHS to say you can never have any work done on your own home once AHS installs hurricane shutters without their consent. In my 58 years I have never been treated so rudely and dismissively by a supplier either personally or professionally. AHS made it very clear, they are interested in your initial business and per my previous review will do a good job. However, if you should ever need their help in the future for any reason, even help you’re willing to pay for, you’re quite simply out of luck. I strongly recommend that you find a company that values long term relationships with their customers to install your hurricane shutters.

Update: It seems honesty is another quality lacking from AHS. They were first contacted in May, not August as stated in their response. Honesty, integrity, service are the hallmarks of a business worthy of your patronage.
