I had no idea why my lawn was being marked and flagged. Within five minutes of calling One Call, I had an answer. I wish all customer service departments were like this company. No frustrating telephone trees and knowledgeable people.
they bog the process down with non essential information you need to provide. i gave them my name and the lot and block. thats about all the info they should need. If they want more people to use this service they need to make easier to use. also everyone i talked to on the phone i could barely hear.

I called 811 three times prior to my project. The first two times, they tell me I am calling too early and to call 3 business days prior to the dig. I call 3 business days prior, and they tell me now I'm too late and "they day you call doesn't count." I ask if I can call NJNG to have them do the markout directly. They tell me that yes you can try.
I call NJNG and the representative there tells me he has "never heard of [811] advising that in his 8 years of working there." In the end, now I have to cancel my project because 811 "can't override their own computer system" to accommodate me. It would be one thing if I didn't call in advance, but after 3 calls and speaking to multiple people, the lack of consideration and completely inconsistent guidance is maddening.

It took 3 days for them to figure out why we were calling. Pse&g painted our lawn and put up flags and raised a pipe 3 inches above our grass and they said on 2 calls that they never sent a crew to our address.

This review is for the website, it’s terrible. I’m sure someone spent a lot of time on it, but they need to be fired. It defies logic. What other websites do you type the house number in one box and the street name in another? If you type something slightly wrong a prompt comes up and doesn’t go away causing the user to start from the beginning. This site is so bad it seems like they want people to just call in markouts. It’s 2018!!!!
