After careful consideration, I feel compelled to write this review regarding my experience with Mr. Mudd. I initially contacted Mr. Michael Herrera of Mr. Mudd in February to obtain a quote for a small stucco project at my place of business. He visited the site, expressed enthusiasm about the project, and assured me that he and his team could complete it promptly. Consequently, a down payment of $2500 was made to secure his services.

However, the evening before the scheduled commencement of work, Mr. Herrera informed me via text message that unforeseen complications with another project necessitated a one-week postponement. While understanding the circumstances, he assured me that all necessary materials had been procured and were ready for the project to commence the following week.

Regrettably, another delay was communicated to me via text message a week later. This time, the proposed dates conflicted with my absence due to another project commitment. Given the urgency of the situation, I reluctantly agreed to allow him to proceed with the work despite my absence.

Astonishingly, less than two hours after the commencement of work, I received a phone call from Mr. Herrera expressing concerns about the quality of the existing structure, which had been previously completed by another contractor. He asserted that the work was subpar and beyond his ability to rectify.

Upon learning of this development, my superior visited the site to ascertain the nature of the issue. During the discussion with my superior, Mr. Herrera provided additional details and promptly rewrote the agreement under duress. This revised agreement was signed before my return.

Regrettably, Mr. Herrera's demeanor underwent a drastic change immediately following the signing of the revised agreement. He began verbally criticizing the craftsmanship of the previous work and adamantly declared his inability to complete the project. Consequently, we requested a refund of the down payment, offering to compensate him for the minimal time spent on-site by him and his laborer. However, he declined, claiming to have already purchased materials with the down payment.

Despite his refusal to complete the work, we requested that he return the materials, as we still required them for the project. Unfortunately, Mr. Herrera engaged in evasive tactics, providing conflicting information during phone conversations with me and my superior. He even resorted to threatening us with an inspection by the city, alleging that he had connections in code enforcement and could have our business shut down.

Over the subsequent six months, I have made numerous attempts to contact Mr. Herrera, requesting either the return of the materials or a refund of the down payment. However, my efforts have been met with complete silence and a lack of any response from him.

In light of these circumstances, I strongly caution against engaging the services of Mr. Mudd or Mr. Michael Herrera for any project or work. Their unprofessional conduct and questionable business practices make them unsuitable for any professional or commercial endeavors.

2. Also have copies of both contracts, the first signed by me the second my boss.

We used Mr. Mudd to replace a wood fence dumpster enclosure at our church. Mike Herrera was exceptionally prompt in getting back to us. His initial quote was competitive and his final work was exceptional. The whole way through the project Mike kept us abreast of progress, tweaks that needed to be made, and a full explanation of all that was done. Initially we had asked if Mike could do some additional work that is in his wheelhouse, which he was happy to do, but suggested that a cheaper option could be pursued instead and work just as well. Mr Mudd built a 3 foot x 120 foot block and stucco wall around the front of our home. They were very prompt building the wall and applying the plaster on the wall. We ran into problems color matching the stucco but after two suppliers and several attempts the wall was finished and looks great. Throughout the stucco difficulties, Mike Herrera stayed in steady contact and fought the battles with suppliers to get the job right. We are very happy with the wall and will use Mr. Mudd again.
