So I had an issue w my fence. My dog found it’s way under the fence n into the neighbors yard. I explained to him the story/issue n prior to my phone call spoke to my uncle who does fencing in another state n he told me it needs a tension wire that runs from pole to pole weaved in n out of the chain links. When I relayed that info to the guy he tells me he does that work but He rather install fence piping that runs along the bottom of the fence n it needs to be connected to the poles along w some other expensive materials. He asked me to send him pics of the fence to his cell phone number which he did immed text me. I sent him pics asap and told him I’d rather just do the tension wire. Felt a few neighbors fence n it will def work. And I can save myself some money as well on labor and materials.once The guy heard that he never text or called me back. That’s terrible customer service.

I had been searching for a fence contractor for no less than 2 years. I started calling companies from finding their logo signs attached to fencing in my area. Most if not all calls to these contractors were never returned. Then I started asking friends. I ultimately obtained three quotes. When I finally made a decision on the contractor do use after getting the estimates, the contractor stopped communicating with me. I then tried the other two contractors and they gave me approximately a nine month wait. By luck I spoke to a friend about getting a fence. He recommended Steve from Gateway. He came over in after a few days and gave me a better price and time frame than any other contractors. So I put the order in. It was understood that the fence manufacturer was backed up and very slow. Steve gave me updates and always got back to me with any questions. The bottom line is dealing with Steve was as smooth as can be. He gave a fair price and did an outstanding job. Old school workmanship and he was actually on the job making sure everything is done right. If Steve does not get back to you right away he’s probably installing someone’s fence. I highly recommend Gateway Fence of Staten Island.

I'd like to tell you whether or not his work was any good but since he never showed up to do the job we agreed on I have no idea. Guy came and looked at what I needed done in August, told me first week of September.

First week of September rolls around, comes and looks at the same fence again and then he just seemed to lose my number and disappear off the face of the earth. Apparently his phone just doesn't accept my calls or texts and when you try to leave him a voicemail, wouldn't you know its completely full.
