I had this company do an HVAC inspection in a home I was purchasing. They did the initial inspection for $150 and recommended we do a deep cleaning of the downstairs system, which included cutting the system out, cleaning, and checking all of the parts and pieces. The sellers (a general contractor who had remodeled the home) and I were very impressed with the service up to this point. The seller even commented that he would be using them for future remodels.
My lender then called and specified that we would need to have an HVAC technician specify that the two units were sufficient for the home. We thought this would be no problem considering that they just worked on the unit extensively and had been paid $1,350 up to this point. The receptionist that answered the phone was extremely confrontational and said that we would need to pay them an additional $500 for them to report that the units (which totaled 5.5 tons for a 2,400 sq/ft home with 8 foot ceilings throughout) were of sufficient size for the home. When my wife asked if the receptionist would speak with me, then hung up on me as soon as I said hello. I’m not sure if the contractor had already called or what the situation was, but to be that abrasive right out of the gate with us and give that high of a quote definitely rubbed the seller and I the wrong way.
We called Spencer Heat and Air, who showed up within 45 minutes of calling them. The technicians were extremely professional, and were dumbfounded by the $500 quote from this company. They charged $90 and sent me the report on the spot. Cannot recommend them enough!!

We had an issue with our furnace which the technician diagnosed as a dirty evaporator- he claimed that it would be impossible to effectively clean it and instead recommended the entire system be replaced giving an estimate for nearly $7000. We had another company came out and they were miraculously able to clean it for about $100 which he assured us would get us through the cold season, and he would come back in the spring, remove it and deep clean it to get us completely squared away. Be careful with their recommendations.

We built a new house and our builder had them do the install. The first issue was that we had service areas to run ducting through and they didn’t run ducting there. This resulted in really odd drywall to cover the ducting. It affected shelving and hanging space as well as light switches. They also had cut outs in the drywall for future service access and just left them open. Then said plumbers should find covers for them. The plumbers explained it was the HVAC techs responsibility to cover but worked to solve it anyway.
Then we had this most recent ice storm. The furnace over our master bedroom quit working. It took 2 days for them to come out, which is understandable. The tech cut up the decking to find that they didn’t properly insulate the condensation drain line. They borrowed a space heater from us to try to melt the ice and left. I came home and managed to pour warm water down to melt the ice so we can use our furnace since it is still below freezing.
Today my wife gets a call from the scheduler who says they can come out right now. Unfortunately nobody is home currently so she proceeds to tell my wife that they’ll be out Monday (5 days from now). My wife asks if it can even wait that long and then she says they can make it out later today and hangs up on my wife.
So we had poor communication on design and installation. Poor installation quality. Insufficient repair attempts and rude customer service.

We adopted A-Better from the previous home owner.
We have them service our equipment twice a year, fall and spring -just before things can get wild in Oklahoma.
Tim is amazing, detailed, clean, caring and expedient. I love the fact I can trust him to crawl all over my home when warranted.
Definitely wife and dog approved, thanks Tim!
Wouldn't consider doing business with anyone else in the city regarding HVAC.

I am not thrilled with my most recent experience with A-Better Heat & Air. I got a new HVAC system from them less than 3 years ago. The system came with a 10 year warranty. The warranty is only for the parts, not for any labor cost related to the repair.
Last week, my heater stopped working, and I gave them a call on a Tuesday. The first time they were able to come out was on a Friday. They showed up promptly on time on Friday which I very much appreciated. However, I ended up paying $337.00 for them to fix my heating unit. In under an hour, the service technician diagnosed the problem and fixed it. I asked what part of that was covered under warranty, and he said that the part was, but the $337 was for the service call and labor cost. I reiterate that his truck was seriously in my driveway for no more than 1 hour. Not only that, but he mentioned that it was a shame that the broken part started being made cheaply and of poor quality in China and that the replacement was the same, but it was the only option I had. My takeaway from the experience is that they charge a lot of money for their labor and they use cheap materials which will require you to pay for their labor in the future. Do with that information what you will.

I highly UNrecomend this place. I've already had 2 issues w the brand new 5 ton system. They've taken way too long to come out and repair initially but DIDN'T even repair when they showed up late. They just told us that we need to wait almost another week for them to reschedule us due to the weather... It's not even raining here, hasn't all day! Unfortunately waiting this long is hurting our business very badly and the fact that they won't come out here first thing in the morning to resolve this issue is absolutely unacceptable especially after waiting so long already! Nor do I appreciate the attitude over the phone.
I NEVER leave bad reviews so this will be my f1rst.
Buyers beware, I've had better luck w used ac units and better service from Craigslist lol.

My AC went out in the middle of a 110 degree (feels like) day. Due to a cancellation, they were able to get me up and running sooner than expected. The tech was nice and professional, and the cost wasn’t crazy expensive. I would definitely recommend!

Did a good job getting my older air conditioner going when after paying for 2 other places to come look at it, they were trying to sell me a whole new unit. Needed a new fan motor and something else, I really appreciate their honesty and will be glad to call them back if I need them and recommend them highly.

Had them come out today to clean AC units, routine service. I wasnt home so wasnt able to see the service till I got back (family member let them in and out). But.... the AC unit was barely cleaned. Looks like they tried to clean it without removing the sides, maybe just spraying through the vent slots, and basically missed most of the back side. Called and have not got a response yet. Will update if they make it right, but otherwise, expect subpar service if you are not watching them. See photos, notice the debris on the outside of the side wall, going in the direction they tried to spray it. Other picture is looking up through the vents.
UPDATE: Young man came back out, did a great job, was friendly and wanted to make it right. Appreciate the follow up. Unit shines now.
