Loved visiting and learning about this unique piece of ceramic history! The building alone has fascinating architecture, and the beautiful tiled chimneys were a highlight. The store is not huge, but you can view and shop tiles made at the tileworks along with ceramic art by a handful of other artists. We took the tour, which included a video about the tilework's history and a self guided walk through two floors. The second floor portion requires stairs. Thank you to Cassandra for the excellent tile pressing demo and for answering all of our questions! This is super close to Fonthill Castle, where you can take a tour of the tilework founder's home. I highly recommend doing both!

A most amazing venue. A century old handmade tile factory still using much of the original equipment and manufacturing methods and materials originated by Henry Mercer. Each tile is hand made by artisans using the original techniques. The factory is also a museum of implements used in agriculture in the far past. The factory is made of cast concrete and is next door to Mercer's all cast concrete mansion, a must do tour while visiting the tile factory. Well worth a day trip to see a glimpse of the history of Pennsylvania.

The 'Moravian Pottery and Tile Works' (MPTW), is one of three unique cast-in-place concrete (walls, floors, roofs and etc.) buildings built by Henry Mercer in the early 1900's. The MPTW is a Mission/Spanish Revival style building and was completed in '1912'. It part of the Bucks County DP & R and it is a working museum with 5 or 6 crafts people who use Mercer's original molds, as well as their own designs for tiles.
Surrounded by tree's and lawns adds to its inviting look. There are tours of the different areas and conversations with crafts people and you are able to watch as they complete their tasks. There are colorful tiles and different products you can use buy, including tile type necklaces. Thoroughly enjoyed and you probably would too.

It was really cool to see the tile works building and how the tiles are made. Beautiful hand made tiles that are authentic to Mercer's original designs. Such a cool piece of history and art. Really enjoyed the tour and bought some beautiful tiles.

This is where one can get a more in depth look as to just exactly how The Mercer Tiles are set into production & what tools, methods, & materials are used to create them! The final product looks incredible (it's also available for purchase)! The available & affordable Self-Guided Tour could be one of the experiences that changes your view of arts & crafts & sparks an interest in creating your own (which can be done by scheduling a class on the website) *THERE IS ALSO A GUIDED TOUR AVAILABLE ON TUESDAYS* All-in-all this is a MUST-SEE!

Very interesting place! The tour is ok. The majority of it is a movie, then you go on your own through the facility. The highlight was seeing the artisans working and making tiles. The gift store is very nice. Overall, I would definitely recommend a visit.
