Thanks to Bright Common we are living in the perfect neighborhood in our perfect home. We knew nothing about home building when we started contemplating building something from scratch for our forever home. We interviewed 3 firms and Bright Common stood out as being the most innovative and cooperative of the group. We did not have a big budget, but were lucky to have Jeremy design the home himself and he and his staff all helped to make it into reality. He was so incredibly supportive along the way and partnered excellently with our builder. He truly went above and beyond to help a couple of total newbies realize our dream. I know that during our project he was working smaller renovations as well as bidding and winning large scale projects and bigger homes as well. But when we were discussing our project he was always completely focused and jumped through more than a couple hoops to get the job done. We are honestly living the dream in Philly thanks to his dedication to our project. Everyday that I walk through our home I'm grateful for his creativity, planning know how and builder connections. I could not recommend Bright Common more for any scale or type of project.

After acquiring a historic commercial building in our neighborhood, we interviewed several firms to do a modern redesign of the space where our business is now located. While any of the firms could've "gotten the job done," we were specifically drawn to Jeremy and Bright Common, because of a shared commitment to ethical, sustainable and community-minded design. The renovation process can be lengthy and frustrating, but Jeremy worked within our budget and guided us through every step, detailing the pros and cons for each design choice. Bright Common’s commitment to quality and focus on designing to reduce environmental impact helped shape our project into a beautiful, highly functional, and energy-efficient space. It was a pleasure working with Bright Common; we are thrilled with the final result as well as Jeremy’s ongoing commitment to the neighborhood.

Jeremy and his crew over at Bright Common are among the best in the City of Philadelphia. His passion for his craft truly shines with everything he does. We are a developer in the city and Bright Common has completed at least a half of dozen projects for us ranging from one single family home to large multi-family. He is one of our go to guys and is always responsive when we call. He's a class act and you won't go wrong using his services.

Overall

We connected with Bright Common initially because we knew we wanted to prioritize green features in our new home, and were acquainted with someone who had worked with them on an impressive renovation. Upon meeting Jeremy we knew we had the right person for the job. He is extremely passionate and knowledgable about sustainable design practices, and gives a damn about about aesthetics too. We worked together to get our facade design right, and it turned out beautifully. He also recommended our builder to us, and we were happy with that experience as well.

I don’t think Jeremy will design below a certain level of “green”, so look elsewhere if you want cheap, market driven housing that will not stand the test of time. He also can be very persuasive, and you might spend more than you meant to! But your upgrades will definitely save you money in the long run on energy costs and will greatly reduce your carbon footprint compared to a typically built home, so that’s a win! And that’s not to say Jeremy isn’t interested in working within your budget, because that’s exactly what he did with us. We did not opt to pursue full passive house features due to the expense but were thrilled to achieve a HERS score of 14 on our project anyway.

Overall we were very happy to work with Bright Common and look forward to continuing the relationship!

We entered into our new home construction project with a few ideas about “green building”, but Jeremy steered us to Passive House and we never looked back. Nearly every decision we made stemmed from the building science principles that Bright Common alerted us to. These advantages were on top of Jeremy providing modern design expertise as an architect geared to help us design a beautiful home. Also, Jeremy gives a damn about the work he does. His team does too. Ask him about his “why” and you’ll find a good dude.
