We’ve had ongoing issues with Home Elevator of Houston, but the major problem we have now is that they started our installation last Friday and left with the elevator partially installed. They said they would finish up on Monday.
On Monday morning we got a call saying they made the elevator 2 inches too short, so the door won’t open on the second floor and couldn’t be installed. They said they would call Monday afternoon with a solution. We haven’t heard from them since and they are not returning our calls.
This is a $55,000 elevator and we expected more attention to detail and better service. This elevator was ordered months ago and they came out twice to measure the house. We have no idea why this wasn’t discovered until now.
I’ll update this review when we see what happens from here.
UPDATE
I've been remiss in updating this review but I'm happy to report that Home Elevator of Houston became more communicative shortly after my earlier review and did finish our elevator . They are working through issues but have made some needed personnel changes and appear to be on the road to better service.
The elevator itself is not manufactured by Home Elevators of Houston, and is made by a company in Florida. They are decidedly not friendly when you call them and, like most residential elevators, the unit can be aggravating. However, it's still better than the alternatives we looked at.
We keep having little problems that better engineering would have prevented. There's a solenoid that periodically bangs loudly and scares my wife, and the second floor door is now not shutting all the way so we have to reach around to close it enough to operate. Its a stupid problem that $5.00 invested by the manufacturer in a better spring would have solved.
On the plus side, the unit certainly looks good, and installers did a great job trimming it out. I apologize that the attached photo shows a lot of mess, but we're still not completely moved in.
All in all, I'm updating my review from two to four stars.

I had Home Elevators of Houston install a Savaria Elevator 8 years back. Service was good until the owner sold the business a year so ago. Now getting service help has become a nightmare. You leave a voicemail and no one bothers to call you back.
I have got disabled parents who use the elevator on daily basis but given the recent heavy rains and power outages in Houston, the elevator has been out of service for over 2 weeks and I have not been able to get any help from Home Elevators of Houston.
Service team sucks

I spent 38,000 dollars on getting an elevator installed for my parents whom are handicapped. The elevator gets stuck almost once every 10 days and makes a rattling sound. I have Been calling them to come check it and no answer, no replies to email. They are straight avoiding us. Toke our money real quick but come time to stand by your brand/service, nowhere to be found. I would not recommend this company at all.

My mother has an elevator unit that had been out of service since the pandemic. The company that installed it had come out multiple times to try to fix it, but failed. The crew that Home Elevator of Houston sent out analyzed the problem and had it fixed in short order. Highly recommend this company. If there are any issues in future they will be who I contact.

Contracted with Home Elevator of Texas to repair my residential elevator. They came out three weeks ago and got it up and running but couldn't get the lights on inside the elevator - citing poor design of having the fuse at a place that one repair person couldn't reach and that he would need a second person to assist with the final repair.
I was to be on the schedule the next week and never heard from HET again. I called and was told that the repair person had an emergency and couldn't finish the repair (which i completely understood). I was told it would be the next week...never heard from HET again! I called and was told...we have you on the schedule for this Thursday (3 weeks after the initial repair). I took off from work but got a call today saying they couldn't find a repairman. I explained that I was already on the schedule and the scheduler told me "I don't know why they did that..."
Very frustrated and upset at the overall lack of care and follow through for a company that seem to have many positive reviews.

I bought this PVE elevator after I purchased a new home with 2 stories. This is my forever home. Jay Knapp and Henry Williams were a dream to work with! Hit a couple of snafus and they were so quick to respond and take care of it! I absolutely love this elevator and would highly recommend their services! Thanks so much!
Update: I didn't think I would need this elevator for several more years but lo and behold, I fell on my tile floor and fractured my right ankle in November 2021. Non-weight baring for 3 months! This elevator is a godsend! I can't thank Jay and his crew enough for their service. I highly recommend this company!

From the start to the final adjustments, our elevator project experience with Home Elevator of Houston could not have been more satisfying. We found the staff to be gentlemen, experts, and very professional. The work was carried out perfectly, on time, and the result is a very tidy installation.
Our elevator performs flawlessly. It is enabling two old folks, one with a serious back condition and both with ailing knees to continue to live in the two-story home they have loved for decades without the use of stairs.
We highly recommend Mr. Knapp and Home Elevator of Houston to anyone contemplating an elevator for their home.

We live in a three story house. We checked into conventional elevators, but there was no way to install one without extensive modifications to our home. We came across Home Elevators’ website and the PVE elevator looked like it would work in our home. From the first talk with Jay, to the planning, to the final experience, Jay was a pleasure to work with. Sergio’s crew was outstanding. Their work was flawless. They made sure all the dust and debris was minimal and when they left each day everything was clean. Our elevator was installed a month ago. We love it. From start to finish it was a great experience.

"Never got a call back."
Update - please see attached call log when I called & was told someone would call me back but the call was never returned.
I read the reviews you shared & that's great that your other potential customers &/or customers have had good experiences but i didn't have the same experience.
As you can see from the log, I spoke to someone for almost 2 minutes leaving my call back info. You indicate that you capture all calls & you don't see where I called. I hope this helps. All the best..
