We don't normally entertain door to door salesman, but yesterday I had a good conversation with Tyler about our bug control and knew we needed to take some steps. My husband and I are new to Virginia and recently purchased our first home in Virginia Beach. We moved here without knowing how common or how intense ant activity was. We had gotten ant killer sprays and gels to help with the activity but it just wasn’t doing enough. When a gentleman named Fortino from Alta came by, we were more than happy to agree to a next day treatment.

Both Fortino and our technician Elijah came this morning to conduct their services on the shed (the main culprit). Wow! Without their help, we would’ve never known the full extent of our ant infestation. Both Fortino and Elijah helped in moving all our equipment from the shed and immediately got to work. Fortino stayed for the first half to help in de-webbing the shed and let Elijah take over the rest after. Elijah started with a full spray down of the shed, our fence and the base of our home. He followed up with grass friendly pellets and an eco-friendly fog down. After it was all said and done 1.5hrs later, he topped off his services with some targeted ant gel along the walls of our fence and shed.

Seriously what a team!!
Fortino was incredibly helpful, kind and personable. We’ve had horrible experiences with other sales representatives, but conversing with Fortino felt more genuine. He 100% did not need to stay to help in the removal of our stuff from the shed, as I’ve seen many other representatives leave it to the owners/technicians. I think this speaks to his and the company’s character of being very helpful and grounded.

Elijah was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and easy to talk to. His work was very thorough and meticulous. He left no corner or spot untreated!! After Elijah finished up his services, he gave us a full run down of all he did with follow up instructions/information for care of the shed. He promised a two week follow up to ensure the treatment of any residual bugs.

I truly believe that after this, we won’t have to worry about any future issues with bugs for the summer. Very grateful to both of these gentlemen and the company.

The shed was already pretty rundown so we had plans to replace it entirely. I’m glad we got this done before letting the ants overtake a brand new shed!!

Absolutely no integrity at all.

The following saga started ages ago with a faint feeling that work wasn't being done the way they say it was, but as a busy teacher and mother of two busy boys I didn't really have time to follow up. Until April 12th. I happened to have been off that day and was home most of it so when I got the email notification that a service had occurred, I was surprised. I checked our home security cameras and was unable to see anyone. I also walked around our small property and could not see any indication of product being applied to our flower beds or grass and cob webs were visible in several easy to see places. I contacted the customer service line at that time with my concerns and after confirming the exact time of service I was able to confirm that the technician did approach my door and had sprayed something on the sidewalk and near the door on his approach. I was unable to see him apply anything to the grass but the view is limited so I dropped the complaint.

2 weeks later, I have ants walking all over my house, in the living room and bedroom which are on opposite ends of the home. At this point, being well out of the space of "still seeing one or two" I called the customer line back. They scheduled someone to come out and retreat our property later that week despite having a "free inspection" scheduled for the following Monday. I insisted on both of these appointments that I needed them to come at or after 3:00 so I could show them where the ants were.

Brian came out late on Friday, May 3rd and as near as I could tell did a great job and a full service. He came at a great time, did a quick walk through, spraying inside the house as well as doing the full service outside.

Unfortunately, another man - I don't know who since he came well before the agreed upon time and no email was sent as with the regular service technicians - came out on Monday, May 6th for our "free inspection." This guy kicked off an absolute nightmare. I noticed he was there when I got off work and checked our home cameras to see what the kids were doing. I called and spoke with him via my husband's phone at which point he relayed to me that he had had to come early due to needing to be in Norfolk and not being able to come back out our way. He said that the house looked fine, no sign of rodents or anything in the attic and that we were good to go. By the time I got home 15 minutes later, he was long gone.

It was not until after I got home that my husband, who does not speak English natively, was able to relay to me that the technician had knocked down the molding around our attic access door. He also left our home having given my husband the impression that he didn't have tools to fix the damage but would be coming back to fix the problem shortly.

I was immediately upset that no time frame had been given and had a bad feeling about the whole situation, especially given that I spoke to the technician after the damage had occurred and he didn't even mention it.

When I called the customer service line it was clear that it had not been reported to the office either. Further, the agent I spoke with was absolutely useless. The silence that I got from him after I explained the situation was infuriating. I literally had to list options for him: call the technician and find out what the plan was when he left our home, or escalate me up to a manager who can help. His literal response was "I don't see a manager so I guess I'll call the technician..."

After several tranfers, I was put in touch with "Kendall" who essentially informed me that Alta would absolutely take care of the damage but I had to do all of the work. I was left to research and reach out to handiman companies to gather quotes to submit for Kendall to choose between and contact regarding payment. It did take several days for me to get the companies to reply to me with the formal quotes to be able to forward them to Kendall but he did call me on May 13th (1 week after the damage) to confirm that he had received them.
