I made the mistake of assuming that I could purchase cinderblock and mortar from Allied for the same price or less than Lowes. Once I got home I realized that they are considerably more expensive than Lowes. I paid over $14. a bag for type S mortar at Allied and then realized you have to add sand. I can buy the same size bag at Lowes with sand already added for $5.98! Once I realized this I took it back for a refund but they have a policy of no returns on mortar because it may have been exposed to moisture. Pretty easy to see if the bag has gotten wet or if the bag is stiff or pliable. Do your homework before doing your business here!
