This review is for Pacific Fire & Security, who is now part of Pye-Barker Fire & Safety.
Short version: Spare yourself and just don't use them.
Long version:
1.) Minimum of $450-$500 just to show up, even if they're only doing 20-30 mins of inspection work. With that price tag, you'd expect high levels of professionalism, right?
2.) Missed checking/re-tagging 3 of 8 fire extinguishers.
3.) Flagged two things during inspection. (That's okay--that's what they're there to do.) However, one flagged item-"need a metal data box to store fire alarms system documents in"--they hadn't flagged for the last 3 years, though we used them for those inspections, too. I asked if code had changed in that timeframe. "No." I asked why then did they not flag in the previous inspections? "Shrugs shoulders."
4.) Quoted $300+ to install metal box. That's $220 for the product and another $~100 for installation (i.e. putting four screws into drywall.) No thanks! I did myself in 5 minutes and saved hundreds.
5.) Scheduled a date for one of their techs to return to fix other flagged item (bell alarm not ringing loud enough). When he shows up that day (40 mins late), he has no idea what he's there to do and doesn't have the parts on him to complete repair, even though we've negotiated and agreed on a quote for this service weeks prior to this tech showing up.
6.) After tech drives around town for hours to find parts he should have had on him, he repairs the bell alarm but tells me the whole thing needed replacing--not the backbox as they quoted, meaning the original inspector hadn't inspected it thoroughly enough to set up this tech for proper repair.
7.) Mind you it's another $450-$500 minimum house call fee again just for them to screw on new bell alarm and complete the inspection/submit paperwork to the city.
8.) After job's done, service guy tells me "sorry, there's been an oversight" and wants to charge in the future for the data box--THAT THEY DIDN'T EVEN INSTALL. Clearly, there's no zero communication going on between their invoicing department, service department and techs out on the street.
9.) Final invoice had itemizations that didn't match agreed upon quote. Including a shipping fee for the parts they failed to show up with on repair day and an admin fee despite the admins repeatedly fouling things. (To their credit, they took these fees after complaining.)
In sum, spare yourself and find someone else to do your inspections.

I recently started a new brewery and restaurant and realized I had some serious issues with our fire suppression system. Alpine got out to me almost immediately and resolved our issue. They were fast, courteous and professional. I highly recommend them.

They are good people. My family has been doing business with them for decades. Their technicians are competent and their company is trusted by L&I. When Alpine fire does work on our systems, we always learn something new. A pleasure to work with.
