Time will tell, but I could not be happier. Technician (Chris)was here at time indicated. He was very informative on each task he performed. Unit needed refrigerant and he found zero leaks. ( Could have been a fill valve leaking.) During the process he discovered a bad disconnect breaker at compressor and replaced same. I am new to state and feel good I have a company to reach out to.

Tech's were good but really pushed a service contract. I had a 1 year deal which I renewed 5/24/23. Somehow I missed a call for service in October 23. On 5/20/24 the contract was found and I called Appalachian. Politely lady said your contract is expired, funny my paperwork said expires 5/24/24. I'm 73 and I've seen many businesses go down the drain treating their customers this way. Don't recommend and now someone else gets to to replace my HVAC.

Honestly I feel like I just got scammed.

I reached out yesterday because one of our HVAC units had started freezing over, the company offered to send a tech out the same day since someone was already nearby. The tech arrived and quickly identified the issue - a bad capacitor. Luckily he had one in his van and was able to switch out and restore our unit to regular function.
The scam part comes in the pricing - I was charged nearly $400 for this repair; $115 for labor, $250 for the capacitor, and $33 in taxes & fees.
When I did some research following the service, I found the same capacitor online for $60-$80 from multiple retailers.
Additionally, my husband recalls using the same business a few years ago when the capacitor went out on our other HVAC unit and he remembers being charged far less than what I was charged yesterday. It feels like I was taken advantage of because I am a woman and my husband was not home at the time.
I appreciate the quick response to our request for service (even though I did not request urgent attention) but was very disappointed in the 400% upcharge on the capacitor. I will not be using this company again and recommend others avoid unless Appalachian Heating and Air Conditioning is your only option.

Good system installed 2 years ago. Issue is they are nearly impossible to get a hold of. Only 2 years old and have an issue left msg with answering service and texted them. Just need someone to respond so I can get my unit fixed. Luckily it’s not 90 degrees only in the 80s. Can’t even get them to respond for semi annual system checks.

We have used Appalachian for many years, both in our private home and in rental units that we have had and still have. They have always, without fail, delivered outstanding service. Jamie, who runs the office and keeps everyone going in the right direction, is fabulous. Bobby is our go to guy, he is the absolute best in everything, I cannot think of anything that I have thrown at him concerning HVAC that he has not handled. Just a great business. Keep it up guys.

Wish I could give no stars! My AC went out so this company came out over a month ago and charged me $124.00 to diagnose my issue. They were to send me an email within three days to give detailed list of what needed to be done, pricing, and start date. I never received an email. I've called several times and they never get back to me. I understand it's their busiest time, but common courtesy would be to at least call back with an estimated time frame. After having to buy window units to deal with the heat I decided to go with a different company. I called Appalachian to ask for a refund of the $124.00 and they refused. She said it was a diagnostic fee so they had nothing to refund me. I basically wasted money and time on this company. The absolute worst customer service I've ever experienced!

I would highly recommend Appalachian Heating and Air. I had done my research with getting 5 quotes from other companies. I had representatives from 5 different companies come to my house, take measurements and talk about their plans. Bob explained to me what needed to be done. I bought my house 3 years ago. It was built in 1967. There was no duct work, so it was installing a brand new system with the duct work to be in the attic. Bob and his team were punctual and promised that the job would’ve finished in 3 days and it was done in 3 days. I didn’t think that I could afford a brand new system but there were financing options available that were perfect for my budget. Bob and his team were professional and friendly. They took pride in their work. I am loving life, with feeling very comfortable in my house. The system was installed in August, on hot days. I am anxious for the winter months to come to find how much money I will save by using my heat pump instead of the electric baseboard heat. I would highly recommend this company over all of the others!

The entire experience from my initial email on their website to the installation completion was fantastic! Jamie was always quick to answer emails many times in the evening hours! She was super polite and helpful.
Bobby was great when he came for the initial estimate. He was informative and professional. Even when other service providers were mentioned by me, he NEVER once spoke negative about them. My brother in-law and his brother recommended Appalachian Heating & Air because of their experiences with the business and I would recommend them as well. Between the 3 of us, Appalachian Heating & Air crushed the competition when it came to price. They are here to make a buck obviously, but not here to screw over customers with unnecessary expenses and jacked up prices due to demand. I had my old system from the 1980s replaced and a new, more efficient York took it's place. It took Bobby, James, (I can't recall the other guy's name...SORRY!!) 2 days to install. They were prompt, didn't waste time, cleaned up, and were complete professionals. I highly recommend Appalachian Heating & Air!!
